5th Annual NIA Folsom Oratorical Competition

Announced by Beverly McGhee on February 04, 2014

The Annual NIA Folsom Oratorical Competition is back!

February 17, 2014 at 9:00 am
2828 35th Street, Sacramento, CA 95817.

Free and Open to the public.

This year, local high school students will use their imagination and ingenuity to present their ideas on how technology can help reform various social and economic disparities facing minority youth. We are very familiar with the everyday impact technology has on young minority boys and girls as consumers. However, for this competition, they will be challenged to produce a technological product that can bring positive change to peers of their own age group. Through traditional speech and spoken word, these students will demonstrate their personal passion and desire to shape and influence their community.

We need your help to get the word out… Please pass on the attached brochures and flyers to any parent or teacher who may be interested in having their high school student participate.

We have a few exciting changes to this year’s competition which we hope will encourage greater participation from students, NIA Folsom and the community.

• Top Prize – Samsung’s latest 10.1” Galaxy Tab 3 tablet with Intel Inside

• New Date - The competition will take place during the month of February in honor of Black History Month

So please join us for a great day of community involvement. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Kingsley Adeoye for more information. Kingsley - Network of Intel African Americans Employees - Phone: (916) 356-4193
