For the Parade of Nations, we would like you to invite all your friends and families from your country including the United States of America to take part in this wonderful event. A sign-up sheet will be available in the church foyer for those planning to participate for you to sign-up for the Parade of Nations and for the type of food you plan to prepare. YLMM Young Ladies & Men’s Ministy kicking off their Holiday Fundraiser starting October 1st and ending October 25th.
Dear CCSDA Family and Friends:
It is hard to believe that “Fall” has officially begun and “Winter” is soon to follow. How exciting! YLMM is asking for your help this year to jumpstart our 2015 year of ministry, with the HOLIDAY FUNDRAISER EVENT. We want to partner with YOU and Capitol City for this fundraising endeavor.
We are asking that each interested member help by picking up a Holiday Fundraiser packet from a YLMM team leader. Each packet would contain all the product information in a high quality brochure which speaks for itself. We want to encourage you to Sell! Sell! Sell! This fundraising event is in support for the YLMM budget.

As many of you are aware the Church State Council will be commemorating their 50th Anniversary this weekend on September 13, 2014. They have a special church service at 11:00 am at the Carmichael church with Orland Johnson, from the NAD preaching. In the afternoon they will be having a special program starting at 2pm. The Sacramento Adventist Choirs will be performing along with a wonderful group of panelists for a Round Table discussion.

The Kosmos Civic Club Scholarship Committee is offering 2013-2014 Student Scholarships for Graduating High School Seniors Only. The Kosmos Civic Club, Inc. is an organization of African American women in the Sacramento community committed to helping graduating high school seniors to further their education by offering scholarships. The Annual NIA Folsom Oratorical Competition is back!

This year, local high school students will use their imagination and ingenuity to present their ideas on how technology can help reform various social and economic disparities facing minority youth. We are very familiar with the everyday impact technology has on young minority boys and girls as consumers. However, for this competition, they will be challenged to produce a technological product that can bring positive change to peers of their own age group. Through traditional speech and spoken word, these students will demonstrate their personal passion and desire to shape and influence their community.
We need your help to get the word out… Please pass on the attached brochures and flyers to any parent or teacher who may be interested in having their high school student participate.
We have a few exciting changes to this year’s competition which we hope will encourage greater participation from students, NIA Folsom and the community.

Announcement from the Northern California Conference of Seventh-day Adventist Children's Ministry Department.
At the January Pastor’s Meetings, an introduction to Shield the Vulnerable was presented. Shield the Vulnerable is dedicated to raising the awareness and prevention of the mistreatment of the vulnerable. They work hard to accomplish this goal by training young people and adults about abuse, neglect, predators, bullying, boundaries, respect, and the perils of cyberspace.
ALL ministry volunteers who work with children or youth need to complete this screening. This is not an optional activity.

Beginning Saturday, October 5, 2013, Sabbath School will begin at 9:40 am for both upper and lower division classes. Come enjoy your Sabbath School study and the Sabbath School Program. This is a 3-month trial for the last quarter of the year. Also, watch for the scheduled dates for Sabbath School afternoon study once a month. Enjoy the extra afternoon study time!

The Prime Time Teen provides a fun, interactive work readiness training for young people between the ages of 14-17. Participants will gain skills in:
-- Job Searching
-- Resume Development
-- Completing Job Applications
-- Financial Literacy
-- Communication
-- Leadership
-- Interviewing
-- Community Service
The program will be held at the George Sims Community Center, 6207 Logan Street, on Mondays and Wednesdays from September 30 to November 20, 4:30-7:30 pm. You can download the Prime Time Teen Flyer and print a copy of the flyer.To apply: Registration is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Limited space available. Download registration form, print, complete and return registration form to the George Sims Community Center.
$200 stipend given to each participant who completes the program with 95% attendance AND completes a community service project!
In addition to completing the program with 95% attendance and participating in a community service project, all participants must be able to provide a signed social security card to receive stipend.

CAPITOL CITY BLOCK PARTY
On Saturday, August 24, 2013 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, there will be a block party to connect community service providers with those who need services. Our region has tremendous resources. However, many in the community do not know about the services right at their fingertips.
The block party is designed to bring community service providers directly to the “block” so that the community can benefit from the free services they can provide.
Over 30 social service organizations are featured including: The Golden Rule, United Way, Ellipse Foundation, Department of Veterans Affairs, The Public Health Institute, The Sacramento County Public Defender’s office and many others.
There will be LIVE entertainment featuring:
• DJ Tosh from “Wild” 103.5 FM & 101.9 “The Wolf”
• Lawrence Beamon (Finalist from America’s Got Talent)
• The Capitol City Singers (Regional Finalists of the Verizon Wireless
Gospel Competition)• The Gospel Music Workshop of America Sacramento Chapter
Mass Choir• The New Directions Choir and many others.
There will also be FREE food, FREE health screenings, counseling services, veterans’ programs, educational services, the Career Skills Center, and events for children and youth. You don’t want to miss this groundbreaking event!
